If you know us at all then you are probably not surprised that we are writing a blog post about Disney! Disney World is one of our favorite places ever. Ever since we got married we had always planned on moving to Orlando to live close to Disney, and it happened a lot sooner than we had hoped! We now have annual passes and go to Disney all the time. We often get asked for our recommendations for the parks and we decided to share them with y’all here!
Magic Kingdom is our favorite park. There is just something about walking down Main Street towards the castle that gets us every time! It’s truly a magical place. It’s hard to explain to people who don’t get it why we love Disney so much, but a day at Magic Kingdom would be the best way to show it to them!
“I only hope that we never lose sight of one thing — that it was all started by a mouse.” – Walt Disney
PRO TIP: I think spending the extra money for the PhotoPass Memory Maker is 100% worth it. But if it isn’t in your budget, the PhotoPass cast members will also take a picture with your phone!
We are really into the shows and parades, so I recommend checking the schedule for the day (this will be located next to the maps when you walk in) and plan which ones you want to see. I try to see the Festival of Fantasy parade every time we go! Happily Ever After (the nightly fireworks show) is my favorite thing that Disney has done like ever. It makes me cry every single time!
Our favorite place to eat in Magic Kingdom is Casey’s Corner. Their corndog nuggets are delicious! It is also right on Main Street, so it’s a good location for watching the castle shows while eating lunch. Don’t forget to get a dole whip! They are located in Adventureland near the Enchanted Tiki Room. I also love the citrus swirl (possibly more than I love the dole whip but shhh), which is also located in Adventureland, but closer to the Swiss Family Treehouse. Some other favorites are the fruit and Nutella waffle from Sleepy Hollow, LeFou’s Brew from Gaston’s Tavern, and churros with chocolate sauce! We obviously haven’t tried every restaurant and snack in Magic Kingdom, so I highly recommend checking out Disney Food Blog for their reviews. They are my go-to blog for Disney food!
“You’re just in time for a little smackerel of something.” – Winnie The Pooh
PRO TIP: Mobile ordering is amazing. A lot of quick service restaurants have a mobile ordering option on the MyDisneyExperience app!
Magic Kingdom has a ton of character spots so if you (or your kids) are really into that, you could make a whole day of it! Most of the lines aren’t too crazy unless it is a new or really popular character like Anna and Elsa. We don’t meet characters as much as we used to, but if we see a short line or a character we haven’t seen in a while, we will!
Most people’s favorite part about Magic Kingdom is the rides. The three mountain rides (Space, Big Thunder and Splash) are probably the most popular. John’s favorite ride in Magic Kingdom is Splash Mountain. I’m not sure I have a favorite ride, but the more I ride Big Thunder the higher it gets on my list! The Haunted Mansion is always good and it has a fun queue line. We also love some of the less popular rides like Carousel of Progress and the PeopleMover. Carousel of Progress was one of Walt Disney’s favorite rides, so it’s really special to be able to experience something he was so proud of. The PeopleMover (for people who don’t know about it) is kind of obscure and hard to find in Tomorrowland, under the Astro Orbiter. It takes you around all of Tomorrowland and is a great ride for when you need to just relax. We also like it’s a small world (come on, it’s a classic!), The Jungle Cruise (if you like puns), and Pirates of the Caribbean (Jack Sparrow, duh). Some rides I would recommend skipping are Stitch’s Great Escape, Peter Pan’s Flight, Astro Orbiter and The Enchanted Tiki Room. Mine Train is fun, but it’s short. I wouldn’t wait in line for it!

This is just how WE like to do Magic Kingdom. We are not experts by any means, we just love Disney! For more information and other recommendations, check out some of our favorite Disney blogs. Disney Tourist Blog has detailed planning guides, Chip and Co has all the latest Disney news and Undercover Tourist has a really great crowd calendar. If you found this helpful and ever want recommendations more specific to you and your trip, let me know! I have done it for a few people and I really enjoy it.
What are your recommendations for Magic Kingdom? Everyone does it differently and we are always looking for something new to try!
